The institute of intelligent information processing of Shanxi University is based on the School of Computer & Information Technology. The manager and the director of the academic committee is Prof. Liang Jiye.

　　The institute has three research areas: Intelligent Computation & Data mining, Chinese Information Processing and Intelligent software and Intelligent Electronic Products. and significantly research in Rough Set Theory，Granular Computing，Concept Lattices，Supporting Vector Machine，DNA Computing，Data mining，Computing Graphics，CLP Models，Chinese Text Corpus，IR and IF，Intelligent software and Intelligent Electronic Production，etc.

　　In the recent years, the institute members undertook the 863 Programs and National Nature Science Foundation Programs, and acquired the First Prize of ShanXi Province Science & Technology Prize and the First Prize of ShanXi Province Science Progress Prize. The Intelligent Electronic Board System and New LED Signal System For Railway are invented by ourselves. It serves as the education and research base of information science in Shanxi with a quantity of excellent students graduated.

　　The institute is supported by the computer application technology of doctor's degrees, system engineering of doctor's degrees and the emphasis subject of computer application of Shanxi Province, on the base of the advantages a strong group has formed.
