Founded in 1931, Department
of Chemistry of Shanxi University has become one of the first-class
departments when Shanxi province began to build Shanxi University
into a comprehensive state-class university. During the past 20
years, owing to the concern and support of the university leaders
and the efforts of the whole staff and students, the Department
of Chemistry has made great progresses in the construction of academic
disciplines, and the staff team, scientific research and student
training in the discipline of Chemistry in Shanxi province. |

Department
of Chemistry currently has over 70 faculty members actively engaged
in teaching and research, among which there are 3 supervisor for
Ph. D students, 13 professors and 18associate professors. All
of them have abundant teaching and research experiences and are
key figures in developing academy disciplines and training students
with high quality and creative ability A number of young teachers
bold in making innovations are growing into a new force for the
development of the dept.
The
department is vigorously involved in international cooperation
and exchange. At present, it has established copperation with
over 10 universities and institutes abroad.
The
Chemistry department consists of 4 disciplines, Chemistry, Applied
Chemistry, material Chemistry, and Medicine. It is authorized
to award doctor’s degree of Inorganic Chemistry and Master’s
degree of Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry,
Applied Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Medicine Analysis, and
has a post-doctor moving station. Now over 400 undergraduates
students 50 graduate students are at university. Many excellent
students graduate hare every year. Out graduates are very favourably
received by their employers.
The
school has advanced facilities and equipments for teaching and
research. The teaching building has an area of 8,000 square meters.
Ti owns 1 provincial key laboratory, 3 provincial key disciplines
and 2 provincial key disciplines of basic research. In recent
years, it has undertaken over 10 research projects commissioned
by the ministry and province, won 10 national awards for inventions.
More than 300papers have been published in China and abroad.
At
present, in order to build Department of Chemistry of Shanxi University
into one of the state-class departments, the teachers and students
of the whole department are working hard. We sincerely welcome the
students with lofty ideas to study in our department and we struggle
together to promote the development of chemistry science of our
country.
